Typical electromagnetic band-gap (EBG) structures such as the woodpile use air in their design. There have been designs that utilize magneto-dielectric as the filler between the 3D woodpile structure (See Figure 4.b of this paper). What would be the most efficient way to create this woodpile magneto-dielectric EBG structure in Nullspace software?

Nullspace EM can model isotropic magneto-dielectric materials with dispersive properties. Using Nullspace Prep, you can create a “recipe” for what the unit cell looks like. This can be fully parameterized so that you can put this through an optimization process to tune the response. Once you have the unit cell set up, with Prep, it can be easily replicated to get a finite structure. Then you can do a plane wave simulation to see scattering from the structure. Is modeling at the unit cell level and/or with anisotropic materials important for your particular design?
Happy to provide examples of what I described above. Reach out through info@nullspaceinc.com.
